MONKEY NUTRIENTS - MAG CAL

An essential macronutrient, magnesium and calcium are called "secondary nutrients" because they're needed in smaller amounts than NPK. MAG CAL is a magnesium and calcium supplement. Reverse osmosis purification and coco based media require magnesium and calcium supplementation for growers in places with soft water. Calcium has a similar effect in plants as it does in our bones by strengthening the cell walls. For photosynthesis, magnesium is a crucial component of chlorophyll. In addition to these secondary nutrients, a mixture of trace microelements is included in case a deficiency occurs.

WHAT IS A MAG CAL?

Magnesium and calcium are secondary macronutrients, which means they are necessary to plants.

For photosynthesis to take place, magnesium must be present at high concentrations in chlorophyll.

To the same extent that our bones require calcium, plants' cell walls depend on it for structural strength.

Also included are a variety of trace microelements to make up for any possible deficiency in these secondary nutrients.

What's the point of using MAG CAL?

Health. Magnesium and calcium are essential for plant health, just like they are for human health.

Growers in places with soft water or who use reverse osmosis filtration need to pay extra attention to MAG CAL. Plants will suffer if they are given water with a low mineral content and no Magnesium or calcium.

If you're growing in Coco, you'll need to supplement more Magnesium and calcium because of the chemical qualities that make coco bind and cling onto them, preventing the plant from getting Mag Cals.

CAL MAG - HOW DOES IT WORK?

Chlorophyll molecules contain magnesium at the centre, surrounded by four nitrogen atoms. Plants would not be able to photosynthesise without it. It's what gives plants their green colour and allows them to make energy from light. As part of the activation of glucose metabolism and translocation, magnesium plays a function in magnesium deficiency.

Cell walls in shoots and roots are strengthened and rigidized by calcium. Cell membrane permeability is also influenced by it. Calcium-activated enzymes boost cell development even more. Plant growth is severely slowed when calcium is deficient.

Negatively charged sites can be found on the surface of organic substances, such as cocoa. It clings to positively charged cations like Magnesium and Calcium because opposites attract. A medium's cation exchange capacity refers to its ability to retain positively charged ions (CEC). For the sake of the plant, additional magnesium and calcium must be added to the medium due to coco's high CEC.
